Aerial
Photography In India
BRIEF HISTORY:
The first recorded aerial
photography in India was flown in 1927 on a scale 4" mile. Since then,
over the years, nearly the entire country has been aerially photographed on
various scales. Of late, developments in the disciplines of Photogrammetry
and Remote Sensing and specially of Photo-interpretation in the country, have
given impetus to the requirements for aerial photography, and this has consequently
led to need for quality control necessitating use of special material and
processes.
TYPES OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS:
- PANCHROMATIC (BLACK & WHITE)
PHOTOGRAPH
- INFRA-RED (BLACK & WHITE)
PHOTOGRAPH
- COLOUR PHOTOGRAPH
- COLOUR INFRA-RED (FALSE/COLOUR)
PHOTOGRAPH
- MULTISPECTRAL PHOTOGRAPH
- SATELLITE IMAGERIES
DEMAND FOR REPRINTS:
- Most of the requirements
of aerial photography can be met from the existing photographic coverage.
- Contact prints are available
in sizes 18cm x 18cm(7"x7") or 23cm x 23cm (9"x9"), depending upon the camera
used.
- Enlargement can be prepared
up to 5 times depending upon the availability of large sized paper and the
quality of the original negative. Simple enlargements can be done straightway
from the aerial negatives, but for rectified prints, ground control data
is required and as such it is costlier and time consuming.
- Mosaics- un-annotated,
uncontrolled, semi-controlled and controlled mosaics on masonite board or
fabric base preferably on sizes 2 1/2'x2' or 6'x4' can be supplied on same
or enlarged scale. Controlled mosaics are produced by mosaicing the rectified
prints.
- Diapositives on contact
scale, can be prepared and supplied for photogrammetric or interpretation
use.
- Orthophoto Maps on contact
or enlarged scale can be supplied.
